DENVER, Colo., Oct. 17, 2011 – OnTerra Systems (www.OnTerraSystems.com), a technology leader in Web mapping, fleet optimization, and Geographic Information Systems (GIS) integration solutions and services, today introduced RouteSavvy™ – a route planner for small business fleets and business professionals who drive to multiple destinations for their work. RouteSavvy is based on advanced optimization algorithms which then leverage Bing Maps’ Web mapping technology.
RouteSavvy is a Software-as-a-Service (SAAS) product meaning it is web-based. All users need are an internet connection and a browser to access RouteSavvy.
“When you calculate the value of saving time, reducing labor costs, and reducing fuel costs, RouteSavvy truly is a ‘must-have’ tool,” said Steve Milroy, OnTerra Systems’ president. “At just $8 a month per vehicle, RouteSavvy can pay for itself within days or weeks of deployment by reducing miles driven, and saving time and money,” he noted.
“RouteSavvy provides a fast, easy way to optimize a route for more than 100 stops, which saves time, reduces fuel costs, and enhances customer satisfaction,” said Mr. Milroy. “RouteSavvy is easy to use, and can quickly improve a fleet or business individual’s bottom line.”
RouteSavvy Features and Functions
OnTerra’s RouteSavvy™ Route Planner optimizes multi-stop routes for small business fleets and individual professionals who travel to multiple locations in the course of their work day. Users may input their destinations into RouteSavvy in three ways: 1) Uploading a spreadsheet with addresses; 2) Clicking on locations in the displayed map which defaults to a user’s home or business area; or 3) Manually entering addresses in an input box in the RouteSavvy Web map applications. Once addresses are entered, users also can choose whether they need a round-trip, or a variety of one-way routes. RouteSavvy’s powerful algorithms then will calculate the optimal (most efficient) route for the multiple stops.
RouteSavvy can optimize from just a few to up to hundreds of stops, which is considerably more than what comparably priced route planner software tools offer. Users also can specify whether the route should be optimized for distance, time, or time “adjusted for traffic.” (The “traffic” mode will access the Bing Maps’ traffic information to help optimize the route and time it.) Once this is done, RouteSavvy will develop the most efficient route for the stops that have been entered.
RouteSavvy Online offers has four key benefits:
1) Improved productivity (Handle more calls per day)
2) Time savings (Equates to reduced labor costs in general & reduced over-time labor costs)
3) Reduced fuel costs (More efficient routes equates to less fuel used and savings on the amount of fuel used)
4) Reduced environmental impact (Minimizes a company’s “carbon footprint”)
RouteSavvy Online Features Significant Enhancements
This new Software-as-a-Service version of RouteSavvy offers significant enhancements to the beta version, including:
- Dual ability to operate via a Web browser or as a standalone desktop application (the original beta version only ran in Bing Map Apps)
- Ability to export route planner data for use in mobile devices
- Ability to export route planner data to Excel and CSV files
- Enhanced printing capabilities, i.e. users can now print RouteSavvy routes directly from the application for drivers not using GPS technologies in their vehicles
“As a small business owner, RouteSavvy has delivered exactly what I need to be able to spend more time prospecting and less time at my computer. Instead of using a physical atlas or the other cumbersome mapping programs, with Route Savvy, I just enter the addresses and it does the rest. I now have 30 – 45 minutes a day extra to find and meet with new clients,” said David Goldberger, co-founder of Upside Options.
